Rangoli patterns

Made with coloured sands or powders and usually in front of doors / entrances as a 'welcome'.

Some are very large and grand; some very simple in just white.

You could make similar patterns outside your doors using coloured chalks.

(Pongal = Harvest festival)

Sometimes flowers or petals are used.

Sometimes dots are drawn and then joined up and the resulting patterns coloured in.  The pattern below was huge!  It was made at the entrance to Batlagundu hospital when the Bishop was coming to bless a new ward.

No, this photo below was not taken in India!  It was drawn to welcome everyone to the India day at Creaton School!
